If you are at all interested in the natural world then the ‘Turtles, primates and big cats’ project is certainly worth considering. Costa Rica is stuffed to the brim with exotic and endangered wildlife and within hours of arriving I had already seen three different types of monkeys crashing through the canopy and some scarlet macaws. Camp is basic but you soon adjust and, before you know it, you feel at home- albeit a muddier and remoter home than you probably came from! Life on the project settles into a routine and the staff are all really keen and knowledgeable- about both the wildlife in the area and also about travelling in Costa Rica in general. As a result, days are packed with trips into a plethora of different ecosystems, ensuring you leave with a real taste of how biodiverse this amazing country is.
